Dhanbad Sub-Centre started from 1962 and running at different places and its controlled 5 district and after Jharkhand State's it's jurisdiction was reduced and presently corporate membership strength is about 400 besides Associate is 199 and Technician Member is about 2000.
Dhanbad Sub-Centre upgraded to Local Centre in the year 1986. It's own building constructed at the Zila Parishad Lease Land in 1981 at Golf Ground, Dhanbad. In the last year of 29th March, 2011 building sealed by the Zila Parishad on notice of Jharkhand High Court without giving any period notice and same was pending at Jharkhand High Court for opening of the seal of the building. Presently Centre running at Kusum Vihar, Koyla Nagar on rent building. It's a Student Chapter running at Govt. Polytechnic, Dhanbad. It's a Technician Chapter. AMIE coaching classes conducted from 1986 on demand of students. Pastly there were 2 Examination Centre at BIT, Sindri, and ISM, Dhanbad. Presently there is no Examination Centre and Students are suffering for Examination Centre at this centre.
Various technical activities organized by this centre like National Convention of Mining Engineers, National Convention of Chemical Engineers, All India Seminars & Workshops on various engg. Division board besides the local technical activities like World Water Day, World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, World Environment Day, Engineer's Day, World Habitat Day etc. Various eminent personalities were elected Chairman and Hony.Secretary like Mr. G.P. Lal, Past President, Prof. Marwaha , Director ISM , Mr. C.S. Jha , CMPD BCCL, Mr. S.K. Choudhary , Chairman, CIL, Prof. A.K. Ghosh, Former Director, ISM and President of the IEI, Prof. S.P.
